Bend Community Relief Fund: Supporting the Silver Rail Families
Standing with Silver Rail: Support the victims and surviving families of the Bend school tragedy.

Oregon Community Foundation is organizing this fundraiser
Created October 16, 2026
On Thursday, October 15, 2026, an unimaginable tragedy struck our tight-knit community at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend. A senseless act of violence claimed the lives of four beloved members of our community—three innocent children and a dedicated educator.
We mourn the devastating loss of 5-year-old Rhoam Summer, an 8-year-old boy, an 11-year-old boy, and 25-year-old special education teacher Megan Lambert. (The names of the 8 and 11-year-old victims are withheld at their families' request).
We also lift up in our thoughts two other members of our school family who are fighting to recover from critical injuries: 54-year-old teacher Becky Drury and a 7-year-old female student.
In the wake of this devastating event, the grief felt by the families involved is profound and unfathomable. While we cannot ease their emotional burden, we can come together as a community to alleviate the financial strains that follow such a catastrophe. This official memorial and relief fund has been established to provide direct financial assistance to the families of the deceased and those currently receiving critical medical care. All donations will be strictly allocated to cover funeral and memorial services, medical expenses, counseling, and long-term support for the victims' families. We ask for your thoughts, prayers, and, if you are able, a financial contribution to support our neighbors during their darkest hour. Thank you for your profound generosity and solidarity.
