Northlight was founded in 2021 by two friends — one in Denver, one in Toronto — after watching the same story play out on both sides of the border: a community ready to help, and a fundraising platform skimming five percent off the top for the privilege.

We thought the math should work differently. So we built a platform with a 0% platform fee, funded by voluntary tips, designed for the way Americans and Canadians actually give: quickly, locally, and with both currencies in their wallets.

Today, Northlight has helped raise $46M+ across 28,000 plus campaigns, from wildfire rebuilds in British Columbia to little league road trips in Detroit. We're 42 people across two offices, and we still read campaign stories out loud at all-hands.

The name? It's the light you put in the window so people can find their way to you. That's what a fundraiser is.
